ECCO 2017 | The European Cancer Patient Coalition (ECPC)

Lydia Makaroff • 27 Jan 2017

Lydia Makaroff, PhD, from the European Cancer Patient Coalition, discusses European Cancer Patient Coalition (ECPC) at the European Cancer Congress of the European Cancer Organisation (ECCO) 2017 in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The main goal of the ECPC is listening to and supporting patients. They help to ensure that patients are able to attend meetings to come together to share their views. Patients are also encouraged to speak the ECPC, in any capacity, to improve access to medicine and treatment in whatever country they are from. The ECPC has a strong alliance with the rest of the oncology community, to ensure that guideline are patient centric, and to remind oncologists that patients are experts in their own experience, and that they should be able to influence their healthcare.
