UKONS 2016 | The ‘Love You to Death’ project for young couples affected by cancer

Caroline Wiltshire, Youth Support Coordinator of Weston Park Hospital Teenage Cancer Unit, Sheffield, UK talks about the ‘Love You to Death’ project for young couples affected by cancer. Caroline Wiltshire and a teenage young adult nurse specialist from Sheffield work on this project, which deals with young couples where one of the partnerns has a palliative cancer diagnosis. She explains that they decided to work on this project as young cancer patients generally find it it difficult to spend quality time with their partners. Often they would find that due to all the other factors in their cancer diagnosis, their relationship was being pushed to the side. Therefore, the ‘Love You to Death’ project organizes activities for these couples, such as a spa weekend. She explains that overall this was a great weekend with a mixture of different things for these couples. Recorded at the 2016 Annual Conference of the UK Oncology Nursing Society (UKONS), held in Brighton, UK.
