MASCC 2016 | Immunotherapy: key messages from MASCC 2016

Bernardo Rapoport, MD and Ronwyn Van Eeden MBChB, FCP(SA) of The Medical Oncology Centre of Rosebank, Johannesburg, South Africa give a summary of immunotherapy messages from MASCC 2016. Dr Rapoport points out that immunotherapy is here to stay, however, even though it looks like it is less toxic than chemotherapy, if side effects are not managed correctly it could be fatal. Dr Van Eeden mentions that clinicians need to be aware of immune-related adverse events and should know how to manage them when treating patients with immunotherapy. Recorded at the Multinational Association of Supportive Care in Cancer (MASCC) and International Society of Ocular Oncology (ISOO) 2016 Annual Meeting on Supportive Care in Cancer held in Adelaide, Australia.
