ECCO 2017 | Promising avenues for whole genome sequencing

Wim van Harten, MD, PhD from the Netherlands Cancer Institute, Amsterdam, Netherlands discusses whole genome sequencing at the European Cancer Congress of the European Cancer Organisation (ECCO) 2017 in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Whole genome DNA sequencing is being developed, and it is very promising area. There is a range of possible uses for DNA sequencing, the current focus being on specific tests and targeted drugs. Whole genome sequencing may also lead to patterns being identified across patient groups, and new targeted treatment opportunities.
