Bettina Borisch, MD, MPH, FRCPath of University of Geneva, Geneva, Switzerland discusses the importance of patient advocacy at the European Cancer Congress of the European Cancer Organisation (ECCO) 2017 in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Patient advocacy is important because it removes the stigma and enables people to come together to better handle the disease and increase awareness. She also states that there needs to be a closer collaboration between patients and healthcare professionals, for both to gain a different outlook on the disease.
