Bettina Ryll, MD, PhD from the Melanoma Patient Network Europe discusses the involvement of patients in regulatory discussions. Dr Ryll explains that patients have not always been happy with decisions taken by regulators or clinicians. Patients have a different perspective of risk and benefit as she explains with the example of melanoma patients. We are now moving towards a process that better incorporates these different perspectives. In the Melanoma Patient Network Europe, they have tried to measure what patients truly think and Dr Ryll highlights the importance of measuring what matters to patients.
