ECCO 2017 | Late psychological and physical burdens in adults diagnosed in childhood

Martin Schrappe, MD, PhD from the University Medical Center Schleswig-Holstein, Kiel, Germany, discusses two presentations on cancer in children and young adults at the European Cancer Congress of the European Cancer Organisation (ECCO) 2017 in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The first focused on how to evaluate toxicities, late consequences associated and the psycho-social burden with childhood cancer in adults. The second focused on young adults diagnosed with cancer, and how they cope after treatment. The majority tend not to go into employment or further education, and this is a problem that needs to be discussed and resolved.
