Howard A. Burris, MD, FASCO from the Sarah Cannon Research Institute, Nashville, TN discusses the importance of tumor molecular profiling. At Sarah Cannon, they are educating healthcare professionals and patients about the importance of knowing a patient’s molecular profile. Further, Dr Burris explains, they are collaborating with the bioinformatics company Genospace in order to collate genomic and clinical data in a meaningful way and also to help match patients to promising trials. Knowing the molecular profile of a patient can help healthcare professionals make informed treatment decisions and improve outcomes.
