BTOG 2019 | A prospective single-port VATS quality of life cohort study

John Edwards, MBChB, PhD, FRCS, of the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Sheffield, UK, discusses the use of single-port video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) and the quality of life of patients. The results of this work were presented at the British Thoracic Oncology Group (BTOG) 2019 Annual Conference, held in Dublin, Ireland, as the Sheffield Prospective Single-Port VATS Quality of Life Cohort study (SP2QC). Mr Edwards also highlights the importance of comparing outcomes using this technique to those of thoracotomy and multi-port VATS, which is also being assessed.
