BTOG 2022 | Increasing patient participation in lung cancer trials

Samreen Ahmed, FRCP, MD, University Hospitals of Leicester, Leicester, UK, discusses strategies to encourage more patients with lung cancer to enroll in clinical trials. Whilst clinicians have the responsibility to inform patients of clinical trials they are eligible to participate in, patients may often be excluded due to ill-health or existing co-morbidities. Prof. Ahmed emphasizes how patients should be informed of clinical trials when referred for treatment or when they progress and are given new therapies. This interview took place at the 20th Annual British Thoracic Oncology Group (BTOG) Conference 2022.
