Nabil F. Saba, MD, FACP, Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University, Atlanta, GA, discusses key areas of unmet need in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). Essentially, HPV-positive and HPV-negative HNSCC are two distinct diseases and there remains a high need in improving treatment of patients particularly with HPV-negative disease. However, the incidence of HPV-positive HNSCC is expected to dramatically increase over the next couple of decades and will require further attention.
