Combined chemotherapy with FOLFIRINOX, gemcitabine and paclitaxel has previously been demonstrated to improve overall-survival (OS) in metastatic pancreatic cancer. Rainer Fietkau, MD, PhD, University Hospital Erlangen, Erlangen, Germany discusses utilizing this chemotherapy regimen to help avoid the development of distant metastases in patients with locally advanced disease during induction chemotherapy to enhance the benefit of surgery.
