ASCO GI 2023 | How will proton therapy impact the treatment landscape of pancreatic cancer?

Benjamin Adam Weinberg, MD, Georgetown University, Washington, DC, comments on the role of proton therapy in pancreatic cancer. Whilst additional research is needed to sufficiently compare proton therapy to existing forms of radiotherapy such as stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) and external beam radiotherapy, proton therapy has proven the be effective at targeting local recurrence. This interview took place at the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) 2023 Gastrointestinal Cancers (GI) Symposium in San Francisco, CA.
