ESMO Breast 2024 | Predicting early progression in HR+/HER2- breast cancer with AI models

Leonardo Provenzano, MD, Fondazione IRCCS Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori, Milan, Italy, examines the use of machine learning to predict early progression in patients with HR-positive, HER2-negative advanced breast cancer treated with endocrine therapy and CDK4/6 inhibitors. Data from the multicenter PALMARES-2 study were used to develop predictive models. Key predictive features identified were endocrine resistance, liver metastases, and performance status. Integrating additional data sources could enhance model accuracy. This interview took place at the 2024 European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) Breast Cancer Annual Congress in Berlin, Germany.
