Mikael Eriksson, PhD, Karolinska Institutet, Solna, Sweden, comments on the role of image analysis, such as mammograms, in the screening and detection of breast cancer, as well as in predicting future breast cancer risk. The use of artificial intelligence (AI) in this context identifies patterns in mammograms, which can anticipate future breast cancer. This interview took place at the 2024 European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) Breast Cancer Annual Congress in Berlin, Germany.
