ESMO Breast 2024 | Analysis of BRCA1/2 mutations and other alterations in the monarchE trial

Christine Desmedt, PhD, KU Leuven, Louvain, Belgium, presents findings from the monarchE trial (NCT03155997) on germline BRCA1/2 mutations and uncommon somatic alterations. The trial compared abemaciclib plus endocrine therapy to endocrine therapy alone, showing potential benefits for patients with germline mutations and examining somatic mutations in genes like cyclin E2, NF1, RB1, and BRCA2. These results highlight the need for further validation. This interview took place at the 2024 European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) Breast Cancer Annual Congress in Berlin, Germany.
