Jia (Jenny) Liu, MD, PhD, St Vincent’s Hospital, Sydney, Australia, discusses the Phase I/II trial (2019-001318-40) of dendrimer-enhanced (DEP) SN38 (DEP irinotecan) in advanced solid tumors. DEP SN38, a dendrimer nanoparticle delivering SN38, demonstrated promising efficacy and tolerability in heavily pretreated patients with colorectal, ovarian, and breast cancer. Notably, it showed prolonged disease control and durable partial responses with fewer severe gastrointestinal adverse events compared to conventional irinotecan. DEP SN38 merits further clinical investigation as a potential treatment option. This interview took place during the 2024 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Meeting in Chicago, IL.
