ASCO 2024 | Integrating fruquintinib into clinical practice in heavily pretreated CRC
Cathy Eng, MD, Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center, Nashville, TN, comments the challenges of integrating fruquintinib into clinical practice for patients with heavily pretreated colorectal cancer (CRC). Decision-making is complex, as multiple therapies are approved based on extensive FRESCO-2 trials (NCT04322539), each with distinct toxicities. Dr Eng emphasizes the importance of shared decision-making to discuss these toxicities with patients. While fruquintinib and regorafenib are oral medications, their side effect profiles differ significantly, necessitating detailed patient consultations. This interview took place during the 2024 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Meeting in Chicago, IL.
