ESMO GI 2024 | The benefits of liver transplantation in colorectal liver metastases

Maximiliano Gelli, MD, Gustave Roussy, Villejuif, France, discusses the advantages of liver transplantation in patients with colorectal liver metastases. Whilst previous studies have determined that patients undergoing liver transplantation have poor long-term results, findings from the TRANSMET trial (NCT02597348) confirm that liver transplantation indeed has a role in patients with unresectable liver metastases. These results additionally will provide new strategies with curative intent. This interview took place at 2024 European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) Gastrointestinal Cancers Annual Congress in Munich, Germany.
