ESMO 2024 | Neoadjuvant chemotherapy shows promise for structure preservation in NPNSCC: results from EA3163

Nabil F. Saba, MD, Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University, Atlanta, GA, discusses the results of the Phase II EA3163 trial (NCT03493425) on neoadjuvant chemotherapy for structure preservation in patients with patients with resectable nonparanasal sinus squamous cell carcinoma (NPNSCC) requiring orbital or skull base resection. Dr Saba highlights the positive trends favoring organ preservation with neoadjuvant therapy, which may influence future clinical decisions, especially regarding quality of life considerations. While the trial did not definitively answer all questions, the observed trends support further exploration of this approach to improve patient outcomes and standardize treatment. This interview took place at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) 2024 Congress in Barcelona, Spain.
