ESMO 2024 | Precision oncology and its implications for adolescents and young adults with cancer

David Thomas, MD, PhD, University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia, comments on the role of precision oncology in treating cancer among adolescents and young adults (AYA). Due to the unique biology of cancer in AYAs compared to older populations, precision oncology can tailor treatments for rarer cancer types, where large randomized trials are limited. Genomic insights may help manage future health challenges, including cardiovascular disease and other post-treatment complications for AYA cancer survivors. This interview took place at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) 2024 Congress in Barcelona, Spain.
