Pooja Advani, MBBS, MD, Mayo Clinic, Jacksonville, FL, discusses the distinct molecular and immune signatures of metaplastic triple-negative breast cancer (M-TNBC) compared to invasive ductal TNBC (ID-TNBC). Higher frequencies of mutations in PIK3CA, PTEN, and TERT in M-TNBC were observed, alongside reduced immune cell infiltration and lower IFNγ scores. There was additionally no statistical difference in incidences of both types of TNBC across difference ethnic groups. These insights highlight the need for targeted therapeutic strategies. This interview took place at the 2024 San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium (SABCS) congress in San Antonio, TX.
