Elżbieta Senkus-Konefka, MD, PhD, Medical University of Gdańsk, Gdańsk, Poland, discusses controversies in early breast cancer care around excessive escalation in the treatment of early breast cancer. When a treatment significantly affects quality of life and toxicity, the standard of care should emphasise de-escalation. Current data is contraindicatory, outlining the requirement for regulated parameters.
