Angela Jia, MD, PhD, University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center, Cleveland, OH, discusses the Phase II METANOVA trial (NCT06150417), a North American counterpart to the STAMPEDE2 trial (NCT06320067) in the UK, which aims to enroll 200 de novo patients with metastatic prostate cancer. Dr Jia explains that participants receive standard of care systemic treatment and radiation therapy to the prostate, with randomization to receive either metastasis-directed treatment or not. This interview took place during the 2025 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Meeting in Chicago, IL.

The METANOVA trial, this is essentially the North American version of STAMPEDE2, which is in the UK. We’re enrolling about 200 patients. These are folks that are de novo, so never been treated before. We’re allowing up to 10 sites of metastatic disease by PSMA PET. Everybody gets standard of care systemic treatment. That’s up to the investigator’s discretion. And everybody gets radiation to the prostate, so definitive primary treatment of the prostate. And then the randomization is with or without metastasis-directed treatment.
