ASCO 2026 | Low-dose tamoxifen for early breast cancer by menopausal status

Andrea De Censi, MD, Champalimaud Centre, Lisbon, Portugal, explores the efficacy and tolerability of low-dose tamoxifen in reducing breast cancer events following ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS), atypical ductal hyperplasia (ADH), lobular carcinoma in situ (LCIS), and microinvasive disease. A pooled analysis found menopausal status significantly modified outcomes, with ipsilateral risk reduction predominating in postmenopausal women and contralateral breast cancer prevention in premenopausal women. This interview took place during the 2026 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Meeting in Chicago, IL.
