ASCO 2026 | Recommendations for low-dose tamoxifen in pre- and postmenopausal women with breast cancer

Andrea De Censi, MD, Champalimaud Centre, Lisbon, Portugal, provides recommendations on low-dose tamoxifen for control of residual disease in postmenopausal women with prior ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) or high-risk lesions. In premenopausal women, low-dose tamoxifen cannot be recommended for control of residual disease, however a beneficial effect was seen on the onset of contralateral disease which could be explored further. This interview took place during the 2026 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Meeting in Chicago, IL.
