ESMO GI 2026 | Phase II trial of fanregratinib in FGFR2-altered intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma

Lorenza Rimassa, MD, Hunimed University, Milan, Italy, describes results from a Phase II trial (NCT04353375) of fanregratinib, a selective FGFR2 inhibitor, in previously treated patients with FGFR2 fusion or rearrangement-positive advanced intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma. The agent achieved a meaningful objective response rate and disease control, with rapid onset of response and favorable progression-free and overall survival. Safety was manageable, with low rates of treatment discontinuation. This interview took place at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) Gastrointestinal Cancer 2026 Congress in Munich, Germany.
