Ricardo Sales dos Santos, MD, PhD, SENAI CIMATEC University Center, Salvador, Brazil, describes the importance of primary prevention in reducing lung cancer costs and incidence, highlighting Brazil’s successful efforts in decreasing tobacco consumption from 50% to 10-12% of the population. Programs targeting vulnerable populations are essential to reduce the incidence of various diseases, including cancer and cardiovascular diseases. This interview took place at the IASLC 2026 World Conference on Lung Cancer congress in Seoul, Republic of Korea.
