WCLC 2026 | Lung cancer incidence in women in the MENA region: insights from the GLOBOCAN database

Kamal Al-rabi, MBBS, MD, King Hussien Cancer Center, Amman, Jordan, explores findings from a longitudinal study examining lung cancer in women in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. Data from the GLOBOCAN database shows that lung cancer is more common in men than women, but incidence is increasing in women across the region. In addition, the gender gap between rates in men versus women is narrowing, which could attributed to smoking rates. This interview took place at the IASLC 2026 World Conference on Lung Cancer congress in Seoul, Republic of Korea.
