Kelvin Lau, BA, MA, MBBS, PhD, FRCS, Barts Health NHS Trust, London, UK, provides an overview of the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in surgery for patients with lung cancer. AI could be used to predict which patients will benefit from surgery and who may experience complications. In addition, the development of physical AI could allow for autonomous robotic surgery. This interview took place at the IASLC 2026 World Conference on Lung Cancer congress in Seoul, Republic of Korea.
