UKONS 2016 | Raising awareness of cancer-associated thrombosis

Annie Young • 10 Nov 2016

Annie Young, PhD, Professor of Nursing, University of Warwick, Coventry, UK, discusses efforts to raise awareness of the dangers of cancer-associated thrombosis. With thrombosis being the second most common cause of death in cancer patients, raising awareness to medical professionals, patients and policy makers is vital. Prof. Young talks about attempts by her and Eve Knight, head of a charity AntiCoagulation Europe, to raise awareness by visiting and talking to a wide variety of groups such as patients, nurses, oncologists, surgeons and, on World Thrombosis Day, the EU. Recorded at the 2016 Annual Meeting of the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS), held in Brighton, UK.
