Academic History
Aristotelis Bamias, MD, PhD, is currently a Professor at the Medical School, University of Athens, Athens, Greece, and serves as the Director of the 2nd Propaedeutic Department of Internal Medicine at ATTIKON University Hospital in Greece. He completed his medical degree at the University of Athens and trained in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology at Hammersmith, Royal Marsden, and St Bartholomew’s Hospitals in London, UK. He earned his PhD from the University of London, focusing on the application of monoclonal antibodies in cancer diagnosis and treatment.
Speaking on urogenital and gynaecological oncology
Prof. Bamias specializes in urogenital and gynaecological cancers and has led numerous national and international studies in this area. As a founding member and current vice-chair of the Hellenic Genito-Urinary Cancer Group, he has coordinated the genitourinary working group of the Hellenic Cooperative Oncology Group (HECOG). His extensive contributions to oncology research include his role in major clinical trials, academic publications, and his involvement in international advisory boards, steering committees, and Consensus Groups.
Prof. Bamias is a member of several esteemed organizations, including the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP, UK), the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO), the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), and the European Society of Gynaecological Oncology (ESGO). He regularly speaks on topics related to genitourinary cancers, immunotherapies, and the integration of monoclonal antibody research into oncology.
