Academic history

Diane Simeone, MD, is currently the Chief of Moores Cancer Center, UC San Diego Health, San Diego, CA. She received her degree in Medicine from Duke College, Durham, NC,  before completing her residency at the College of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI. She moreover serves as the leading expert and innovator of Precision Promise, an association devoted to spearheading future clinical trials for patients with pancreatic cancer. Furthermore, she established the Pancreatic Cancer Early Detection (PRECEDE) Consortium, a worldwide organization together pointed at making advancements in strategies for detecting pancreatic cancer in its early stages.

Before her current role, Dr Simeone was the executive of the Pancreatic Cancer Center and the Relate Chief at the Perlmutter Cancer Center, NYU Langone Wellbeing, NY, where she led investigational activities and improved clinical hones for medications utilized in pancreatic cancer.

Speaking on clinical research for pancreatic cancer treatments

Dr Simeone has made significant contributions to clinical research aimed at improving pancreatic cancer treatments.  One notable study she has been involved in is BASECAMP-1 trial, which uses next-generation sequencing to detect loss of heterozygosity in human leukocyte antigens (HLA) in solid tumors. This approach helps identify patients with relapsed tumors who might benefit from logic-gated Tmod CAR T-cell therapy in future treatments, aiming to enhance personalized treatment strategies for those with advanced cancers. Being part of the Early Detection Research Network, Dr Simeone also validates early detection biomarkers for the diagnosis of pancreatic cancer.
