Don Dizon
Academic history
Don Dizon is the Director of the Pelvic Malignancies Program at Lifespan Cancer Institute, Head of Community Outreach and Engagement at Legorreta Cancer Center, and Director of Medical Oncology at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, RI. Prof. Dizon gained his undergraduate and MD from the University of Rochester, Rochester, NY. He later gained his fellowship from the Memorial Sloan Ketter Cancer Center, New York, NY.
Prof. Dizon has serves as Vice Chair for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Professional Integrity at SWOG Cancer Research Network. He is a founding member of the Collaboration for Outcomes using Social Media in Oncology. Prof. Dizon is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
Speaking on pelvic cancers
Prof. Dizon is a leading investigative oncologist in pelvic cancers. He has led several clinical trials including the Phase I study of cantrixil in patients with ovarian, fallopian tube, or primary peritoneal cancer, as well as the Phase II randomized trial of nivolumab for ovarian and extrarenal cancers.
Prof. Dizon is also a leading advocate for sexual and gender minoritized communities and a researcher into social media use and survivorship after cancer. He is keenly focused on reducing outcome inequalities between patient populations.
