Academic History

Elisabetta Munzone is a Lecturer in Pharmacy and Oncological Pharmacology at the University of Milan, Milan, Italy. Dr Munzone gained her MD and her Specialization in Oncology from the University of Milan. She served as a guest researcher at the National Cancer Institute, Bethesda, MD.

Dr Munzone is the Vice-Chair of the Executive of the Scientific Committee of the International Breast Cancer Study Group (IBCSG) and serves as a Committee Member on the Scientific Advisory Council of the Breast International Group (BIG) and IBCSG. She is a member of the Scientific Committee of the International School of Metronomic.

Speaking on breast cancer

Dr Munzone is a Principal Investigator of several clinical studies that aim to understand adjuvant, neoadjuvant and metastatic treatment options for breast cancer patients. She has led the SOFT, TEXT, monarchE, and NATALEE trials, these have aimed to characterize the axilla in the post-neoadjuvant setting. She also has a keen interest in the process of brain metastasis formation in breast cancer.
