Academic History

Elizabeth Plimack, MD, MS, received her undergraduate from Yale University and after completing her medical degree and residency in Internal Medicine at the New York University School of Medicine, Prof. Plimack underwent a Medical Oncology Fellowship at the MD Anderson Cancer Center and received a Master’s in Patient Based Biologic Research from the University of Texas Graduate School of Biomedical Science.

She specializes in the treatment of genitourinary malignancies at treats patients at the Fox Chase Cancer Center with prostate, kidney and testicular cancers, whereas her clinical investigations encompass kidney and bladder cancer trials to develop new therapeutic approaches with novel agents. Prof. Elizabeth Plimack has released several papers with a particular focus on biomarker development and aims to translate this into clinical practice. In addition, she also leads national initiatives focused on bladder, kidney and prostate cancer with organizations such as the Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network (BCAN), the Kidney Cancer Association (KCA) and others.

Speaking on biomarker development for genitourinary cancer treatment

Prof. Plimack writes, develops, designs and runs clinical trials in both kidney and bladder cancer, and collaborates with scientists to translate scientific concepts into clinical care. Her research focuses on developing new therapeutic approaches in bladder and kidney cancers through innovative clinical trial design with novel agents and tissue-based correlative science, with a particular focus on biomarker development. Prof. Plimack currently serves as PI for multiple trials at Fox Chase, including many of her own investigator-initiated trials and mentors fellows and junior faculty in clinical trial and correlative study design.
