Academic History
Emmanuel Antonarakis, MD, is the Clark Endowed Professor of Medicine at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, MN, and the Associate Director for Translational Research at the Masonic Cancer Center. Prof. Antonarakis obtained his medical degree from and completed an internship at the University of Wales College of Medicine, Cardiff, UK. He then completed his residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Medical Oncology, both at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore, MD.
Prof. Antonarakis is a member of several organizations including the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR), the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO), the International Society of Liquid Biopsy, and the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN). He is also a member of the Prostate Cancer Clinical Trials Consortium and Working Group.
Speaking on novel therapies for prostate cancer and liquid biopsy development
Prof. Antonarakis has an interest in the development of novel androgen-directed therapies, genetically-targeted therapies and immunotherapies for recurrent or advanced prostate cancer and is a principal investigator of several clinical trials. He is particularly interested in the development of precision approaches for treatment using genetic markers. Prof. Antonarakis also researches the development of liquid biopsies and biomarkers, such as clinical validation of the AR-V7 marker.
