Fabrice André

Academic History

Fabrice André, MD, PhD, is currently Head of Research and Professor in the Department of Medical Oncology, Institut Gustave Roussy, Villejuif, France. He earned his medical degree and PhD at the University of Grenoble, Grenoble, France, and the University of Paris, Paris, France, respectively. Prof. André was subsequently Visiting Assistant Professor at the MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, TX.

Prof. André holds numerous awards and titles, including the Outstanding Investigator in Breast Cancer Award from the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) and the Career Development Awards from the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO). He has been elected President of the European Society for Medical Oncology’s (ESMO) for the 2025-2026 term and was chair of the ESMO Translational Research and Precision Medicine Working Group.

Speaking on treatment of breast cancer

Prof. André leads research on breast cancer, working in the field of biomarkers and personalized oncology. Currently leading Phase I-III trials evaluating targeted breast cancer agents, he studies molecular traces that can rapidly detect breast cancer to allow quicker intervention and more informed treatment choice. Having published over 300 peer reviewed papers, continues to be one of the most cited French researchers.
