Gaia Griguolo

Gaia Griguolo, MD, is a junior faculty member at the Department of Surgical, Oncological and Gastroenterological Sciences, at the University of Padova, Padova, Italy, and a Medical Oncologist at the Department of Medical Oncology, Veneto Institute Oncology (IRCCS), Padova, Italy. She received her medical degree and specialized training in medical oncology from the University of Padova, Padova, Italy. She completed her medical oncology fellowship in clinical research at the Early Phase I Clinical Trial Unit, IOSI (Oncology Institute of Southern Switzerland), Bellinzona, Switzerland, and then worked in the Translational Genomics and Targeted Therapeutics in Solid Tumors Lab at the Institut d’Investigacions Biomèdiques August Pi i Sunyer (IDIBAPS), Barcelona, Spain, which focused on dissecting the biological heterogeneity of breast cancer.
Dr Griguolo specializes in clinical and translational research for breast cancer. She is also a member of societies such as Italian Association of Medical Oncology (AIOM), American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), and European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO).
Speaking on clinical and translational breast cancer research
Dr Griguolo has investigated the immune characterization and biological heterogeneity of breast cancer through translational research projects during her residency and oncology fellowship. In 2019, she received the Conquer Cancer Foundation Young Investigator Award in Breast Cancer. At the Veneto Institute Oncology (IRCCS), Padova, Italy, she conducts several clinical trials and research projects that explore the pathology of breast cancer as a co-investigator. As a principal investigator, she is currently involved in clinical research that explores breast cancer brain metastases, such as profiling the immune microenvironment to investigate the pathology of this disease.
