Jason Mouabbi
Academic History
Jason Mouabbi, MD, is an Assistant Professor and Breast Medical Oncologist at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, TX. He received his medical degree from St. George’s University, True Blue, Grenada, and completed his residency and fellowship at Ascension St. John Hospital, Detroit, MI. Dr Mouabbi also completed his clinical instructorship in Breast Cancer at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, TX. In 2023, he was appointed as the chair of the Lobular Breast Cancer Alliance (LBCA) Scientific Advisory Board (SAB).
Dr Mouabbi specializes in hormone receptor positive (HR+) metastatic breast cancer and invasive lobular carcinoma (ILC) research. He is a member of societies such as American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and American College of Physicians (ACP).
Speaking on lobular breast cancer research
Dr Mouabbi has been researching the differences between ILC and invasive ductal carcinoma (IDC) for the last eight years. He has received multiple awards including the Guiding Researchers and Advocates to Scientific Partnerships (GRASP) Award, the Breast Cancer Research Foundation Scholarship, and the Lester & Sue Smith Breast Cancer Award of Excellence. Dr Mouabbi is currently a principal investigator for the first treatment trial for patients with metastatic ILC in the United States, which aims to pave the way for more effective and targeted treatments against the disease.
