Academic history

Neha Vapiwala, MD, FACR, FASTRO, FASCO, is a Professor and Vice Chair of Education in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Pennsylvania and the Eli Glatstein Professor in Radiation Oncology. She also serves as Dean of Admissions at the Perelman School of Medicine. A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, she completed her radiation oncology residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and Albert Einstein Medical Center.

Speaking on advances in prostate cancer radiation therapy

Prof. Vapiwala specializes in genitourinary cancers, particularly prostate cancer, and is an expert in image-guided radiation therapy, radiosensitizers, and novel imaging agents. She leads multiple therapeutic trials, including a national phase III study using PET imaging to guide treatment intensification after prostatectomy. Dr. Vapiwala serves on national committees for ASCO, ASTRO, and the NCI Prostate Cancer Task Force, and sits on the editorial boards of JAMA Oncology and the Journal of Clinical Oncology.
