Academic History
Oleg Gluz, MD, is the chief physician of the Breast Center at the Evangelisches Krankenhaus Bethesda Klinik, Mönchengladbach, Germany, and the head of the West German Research Group, Mönchengladbach, Germany. Dr Gluz completed his medical degree at the Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf, Germany and specialist training in the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics at the Breast Center Niederrhein/Mönchengladbach, Germany and in the Gynecology Department of Bethesda-Krankenhaus Wuppertal, Wuppertal, Germany. He obtained his habilitation from the University of Cologne, Cologne, Germany, in obstetrics and gynecology. Dr Gluz is a member of several organizations, including the American Society for Clinical Oncology (ASCO), the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR), the German Society for Gynecology and Obstetrics (DGGG), and the German Society of Senology (DGS).
Speaking on management of early and triple-negative breast cancer
Dr Gluz’s primary research interest is in the treatment of early breast cancer. He is a principal investigator in the WSG-ADAPT-TN trials examining de-escalated neoadjuvant chemotherapy in early-stage breast cancer. Dr Gluz also contributes to the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Gynäkologische Onkologie (AGO) guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of early and advanced breast cancer. In addition, he investigates predictors of response and resistance to systemic therapies to move towards treatment personalization.
