Omid Hamid, MD, is Chief of Translational Research and Immuno-Oncology and Director of the Cutaneous Malignancies and Phase I Programs at The Angeles Clinic and Research Institute, Los Angeles, CA. He earned his medical degree from the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine, Los Angeles, CA, followed by internship and residency at Los Angeles County/USC Medical Center. He completed his fellowship in oncology at the USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center, Los Angeles, CA. Board-certified in medical oncology, Dr Hamid has established a distinguished career in advancing cancer immunotherapy and early-phase drug development.

Speaking on immunotherapy and combination strategies in melanoma

Dr Hamid specializes in developing novel immunotherapeutic strategies for melanoma and solid tumors. He has led numerous early-phase clinical trials of first-in-class immune-based therapies and has been instrumental in the development of anti-CTLA-4, anti-PD-1, and anti-PD-L1 agents, as well as BRAF/MEK-targeted therapies. His current research focuses on next-generation immunotherapies, including bispecific antibodies, adoptive T-cell therapies, and oncolytic immunotherapies, with an emphasis on overcoming resistance and improving outcomes through combinatorial approaches.
