Robin Jones

Academic History

Robin Jones, MBBS, MRCP, MD, is currently a consultant oncologist and head of the Sarcoma Unit at The Royal Marsden, London, UK. He completed intercalated BSc in medical physics/radiological sciences at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals, London, UK, and  received this oncology training at The Royal Marsden Hospital. He then went on to complete a postgraduate research degree with Professor Dowsett at the Institute of Cancer Research, London, UK. From 2010 until 2014, Prof. Jones was Associate Professor and Director of the Sarcoma Program at the University of Washington and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Seattle, WA.

In 2017 he was the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Education Committee lead for sarcoma. Prof. Jones is also affiliated with multiple societies such as the Sarcoma Alliance for Research through Collaboration Concept (SARC) Review Committee and the American Joint Commission on Cancer (AJCC) soft tissue sarcoma staging Committee.

Speaking on novel immunotherapeutic agents in sarcoma

Prof. Jones specializes in soft tissue and bone sarcoma and his research interests focus on novel agents and immunotherapy in sarcoma. Alongside clinical practice, he is involved in laboratory work and multiple clinical trials with the Institute of Cancer Research investigating new immunotherapeutic targets in bone and soft tissue sarcomas, where he has experience in both translation and Phase I, II, and III clinical trials.
