Academic History

Scott Tagawa, MD, MS, FACP, FASCO, is a Professor of Medicine and Urology at Weill Cornell Medicine (WCM) and an Attending Physician at NewYork-Presbyterian-Weill Cornell Medical Center, New York, NY. After earning his medical degree from the University of Southern California (USC) School of Medicine, Los Angeles, CA, and completing his Internship and Residency training at USC, he became Chief Resident and subsequently received his fellowship in Hematology and Medical Oncology, eventually being appointed Chief Fellow. Prof. Tagawa serves as the Medical Director of the Genitourinary Oncology Research Program, and was recruited to WCM in 2007, where he leads clinical trials in the areas of prostate, kidney and bladder cancer. Prof. Tagawa also serves as leader of the GU Disease Management Team, is co-leader of the Experimental Therapeutics Program of the Meyer Cancer Center and is the WCM principal investigator for the Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology.

Speaking on monoclonal antibody directed therapies to treat GU cancer

Prof. Tagawa specializes in drug development in genitourinary oncology malignancies with a particular interest in cell-surface targeting, including prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) theranostics. His work also includes research on treatment patterns of patients with metastatic castration-sensitive prostate cancer. He leads clinical trials using radioimmunotherapy to prevent or delay metastatic disease in men with a rising prostate-specific antigen (PSA) and to target tumor vasculature in advanced solid tumors.
