Academic History

Shankar Siva, PhD, MBBS, FRANZCR, is a Radiation Oncologist and leads the Stereotactic Ablative Body Radiotherapy (SABR) program at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, Melbourne, Australia. Prof. Siva completed his medical degree and PhD at the University of Melbourne, Melbourne, Australia, with the latter investigating high-dose lung radiotherapy. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Radiosurgery Society, the American Society of Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) Science Council, and the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer Advanced Radiation Technology committee.

Speaking on stereotactic ablative body radiotherapy for prostate, lung and kidney cancers

Prof. Siva is an expert in SABR, having published the first original research paper on this technique in Australia. He has an interest in prostate, lung and kidney cancers, as well as the novel application of SABR in oligometastatic disease and in combination with immunotherapy. In addition, Prof. Siva has designed and led multiple investigator-initiated clinical trials across these disease areas, and his current research focuses on the development of prognostic and predictive biomarkers using insights from clinical trials.
