Speaking on biomarker-based systemic therapies in GU malignancies
Prof. Choueiri is an internationally recognized clinician-scientist whose work has shaped the field of genitourinary oncology, particularly renal cell carcinoma (RCC). His research focuses on the biology of RCC, including genomic and tumor microenvironment factors driving treatment response and resistance. He has led pivotal clinical trials resulting in the FDA approval of multiple therapies for metastatic RCC, and has significantly contributed to the development of biomarker-based treatment strategies, including the International Metastatic RCC Database Consortium (IMDC) risk model. His work also addresses rare RCC subtypes, such as papillary, translocation, and sarcomatoid variants, through translational studies and rationally designed trials.
