Academic History

Triparna Sen, PhD, MSc, BSc, is a Professor of Internal Medicine at the Ohio State University, Columbus, OH, and the Director of the Lung Cancer Preclinical Therapeutics Platform at the James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute, Columbus, OH. Prof. Sen also serves as an Associate Director of Research for the Division of Medical Oncology at the University. She graduated from the University of Calcutta, Kolkata, India, with a Bachelor of Science from the Department of Physiology and a Master of Science from the Department of Genetics, and subsequently completed a PhD in Cancer Biology at Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India. She then completed postdoctoral fellowships at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, TX, and Washington University, St. Louis, MO

Prof. Sen is an active member of the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC) and the American Association for Cancer Research. For the IASLC, she has served as a Program Committee member for the North America Conference on Lung Cancer and the World Conference on Lung Cancer.

Speaking on resistance mechanisms and therapeutic vulnerabilities in lung cancer

Prof. Sen’s research focuses on investigating resistance mechanisms in lung cancer, with an emphasis on small cell lung cancer (SCLC) and aggressive subsets of non-small cell lung cancer. She is interested in how tumors evolve under therapeutic pressure and how tumor vulnerabilities can be exploited to develop novel therapeutics. Her laboratory is also investigating DNA damage response pathways to identify novel targets for SCLC.
