SABCS 2023 | Social determinants of health and their importance in cancer care

Amelie G. Ramirez, DrPH, MPH, UT Health Science Center San Antonio, San Antonio, TX, gives her thoughts on social determinants of health, and how these can determine outcomes for patients with cancer. She highlights the importance of understanding the needs of those in the community and that around 50% of social needs impact health. She stresses the importance of healthcare professionals treating patients to work with community partners to further help patients.
