BCC 2021 | Epidemiological and clinical characteristics of breast cancer in Tunisia

Wala Ben Kridis, MD, Habib Bourguiba Hospital, University of Sfax, Sfax, Tunisia, discusses the findings of a retrospective study of the epidemiological and clinical characteristics over 1000 breast cancer cases in Tunisia, diagnosed over a 5-year period. Analysis of pathological data found that the rate of HER2 overexpression and average tumor size in this population was higher than those reported in the literature. Additionally, the was a high proportion of young patients, with 16% of breast cancer cases diagnosed under the age of 40. This interview took place during the 17th St. Gallen International Breast Cancer Conference.
